EU Approves Data Retention
By: MarkJ - 15 December, 2005 (10:03 AM)

With amendments being approved during November, today saw the final official stamp of approval for new data retention laws, with the full European Parliament voting 378 in favour to 197 against and 30 abstentions.

Despite what the media are saying, this is not the UK's draft, but rather the EU's counter proposal. Our original article from November explains it better HERE.

In the meantime the ISPA remains concerned that UK ISP's may have to foot the bill, although the document does say that member states should be responsible for covering the cost. Knowing our government we doubt itíll be that easy.
