Pipex Crowns Hasselhoff - Net King

Pipex has crowned the cult TV and pop “star” David Hasselhoff (Knight Rider, Baywatch etc.) 'KING OF THE INTERNET' and made him the ISP's new front man for promoting its products =) :

David Hasselhoff has emerged as the most revered celebrity entertainer on the internet in a new survey of 16-24 year olds commissioned by Pipex. The star, who’s accolades include Baywatch and Knight Rider, topped a list of celebrities including Brad Pitt and Robbie Williams to be named as the male star most likely to feature in emails - with 30% of young people emailing ‘The Hoff’ to friends, family and colleagues. US Popstrel Britney Spears was named as the most emailed female entertainment star followed by Paris Hilton and Victoria Beckham in joint second.

‘The Hoff’ was also revealed as the cult star most searched for on the internet, above Arnold Schwarzenneger, Michael J Fox and ‘A-Team’ star Mr T.

‘The Hoff’ (who already holds the Guinness World Record as "The Most Watched TV Star in the World,") has become an icon for a whole new worldwide audience that has grown through online communities around the globe. Today Pipex, which launched in 1991 and has over 1m customers in the UK, announced that ‘The Hoff’ has signed up to become the face of a new advertising campaign for 2006/7. The campaign will highlight a new broadband and home phone calls package available across the UK with the slogan "Powered by Pipex’.

David Hasselhoff said, "I’m delighted to be such a hit on the web and to be crowned ‘King Of The Internet’. It is a great way for me to stay in touch with my fans across the world and I’m thrilled to be working with Pipex on this new campaign."
