Supplier Problems Knock Biscit Customers Offline

UPDATE: The service appears to be back online, see statement further down. Several broadband customers of troubled UK ISP Biscit have reported being unable to connect since yesterday morning. The problem follows a similar outage two weeks ago, yet ominously this one appears to be an unspecified issue with the provider’s suppliers:

Service Update 28th February 2007 (11:17am)

Due to a problem with V21's 3rd party supplier, V21 broadband customers are currently unable to connect to our service. Our engineers are working with them to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

We are currently not able to offer an estimated repair time - please check back here for an update.

The outage will no doubt cause further concern to customers and comes on top of existing legal battles and their recent exit from the ISPA. At the time of writing the provider had not issued any further status updates.

Update Message:

Biscit's Robyn Sandler, Assistant to CEO, sent us the following update:

The broadband customers who could not connect are now able to connect with no issues. Please refer to the latest service status update on status.biscit.net which says: “Contrary to a report in an industry webzine this morning, there are no issues with our service and all customers can connect as normal.

Curiously Biscit has now completely removed the 28th February 2007 update from its website (preserved for posterity above), allowing it to appear as though there were no previous problems. Customers and Sanlder's own comments somewhat contradict that.
