South Yorkshire (UK) focused ISP LittleBigOne, which runs over the local and still financially traumatised telecoms network from Digital Region, has updated its Facebook page to mention that some of their customers could soon receive “ultra-fast” broadband download speeds of 100Mbps or more.
The news is in keeping with similar announcements from other Digital Region providers, such as Origin Broadband (here), and follows two weeks after LittleBigOne announced the launch of their new TV service and an ‘up to’ 80Mbps speed boost (previous maximum was 40Mbps) for late April 2012 (here). But be warned that some related line speed estimation tools for similar ISPs have been promising extremely over optimistic results (in some cases it’s double the reality).
Origin Broadband Statement (Digital Region Support Forum)
“We are currently working on a more accurate attainable speed testing tool, but because the line information really isn’t up to date this causes many issues with quoting speeds that on paper would work but in practice are not attainable.
Our checker is still working on the upto 40 service.”
LittleBigOne states that customers can now order the faster speeds, although the service itself won’t go live until 1st May 2012. Thanks to SpencerUK for the link.
