Direct Save Telecom Claims to Offer the UK Cheapest Broadband Deal

Home phone and internet provider Direct Save Telecom claims to have launched “the UK’s lowest priced broadband deal” today, which provides new customers with an ‘up to 24Mbps’ broadband connection (“typical” speed of up to 13Mbps), 20GB usage allowance and free evening / weekend calls for just £2.49 per month.

UK Broadband ISP Connections Top 20.43 Million in Q4 2011

The communications regulator, Ofcom, has confirmed in its latest quarterly Telecommunications Market Data Tables (Q4 2011) update that the UK is home to a total of 20.43 million fixed line home and small business broadband connections (excludes corporate), which includes 412,000 from superfast fibre optic based services (FTTC etc.).

UK ISP Zen Internet Cuts 76Mbps Superfast Broadband Install Prices by 25%

Popular ISP Zen Internet has today cut the installation price on “all” of its home and businesses focused superfast broadband (FTTC) packages by 25%, which marks a reduction from the original cost of £80 +vat to £60 +vat (i.e. £72 when you include VAT).

UK ISP Aquiss Cuts its Family Gaming Broadband Package Prices

Shropshire-based internet provider Aquiss claims to have enhanced the features and lowered the overall retail price of its popular home/family focused Gaming Broadband packages. Customers who take a 12 month contract will also benefit from 2 months of free service (new customers) or free activation / migration.

CityFibre and Fujitsu Join Forces to Deploy Fibre Optic Broadband in UK Cities

CityFibre Holdings, which builds Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) style fibre optic infrastructure, has announced a new engineering agreement with Fujitsu that will progress their plans for deploying ultrafast broadband (100Mbps+) services “throughout the UK’s second tier cities” to reach 1 million homes and 50,000 businesses.
