South Yorkshire ISP LittleBigOne (Isrighthere Ltd.), which uses the troubled Digital Region broadband network, has suggested that the Catcliffe cul-de-sac of Blue Mans Way could now be “the best connected street” in the whole region.
The ISP claims to have connected 13 customers on the 64 house street to its superfast broadband (FTTC) service, which offers internet download speeds of up to 70Mbps (Megabits per second).
Apparently this means that the “popular cul-de-sac for young families is believed to have the highest concentration of high-speed fibre broadband users anywhere in South Yorkshire,” which may or may not be good news depending upon your perspective.
Teresa Robbins, Managing Director of littlebigone.com, said:
“Blue Mans Way really must be the best connected street in South Yorkshire. A fifth of the road’s residents have upgraded to superfast internet to serve the growing need for bandwidth coming from tablets, consoles and internet TVs.”
It’s good to see Digital Region’s ISPs making progress but there’s still no firm data concerning subscribers for the entire network, which is widely believed to be because the numbers haven’t been especially wonderful (certainly not even remotely enough for DR to breakeven). As a result it’s also difficult to know whether Blue Mans Way really is the “best connected” street, which in any case can be a difficult thing to define.
