Sky, Virgin Media and PlusNet Top UK Home Broadband 2013 ISP Awards

A new Home Broadband Survey 2013, which combined the results from 50,000 speed tests with consumer research from OnePoll, has named PlusNet the best broadband provider in the United Kingdom after it secured the highest scores across most categories (e.g. speed satisfaction, support and reliability).

The BroadbandGenie.co.uk study also factored in the opinions from a panel of “industry insiders and experts” (e.g. Timico’s CTO, Trefor Davies) and named Virgin Media as the Fastest Broadband Provider.

Elsewhere PlusNet also won the Best Budget Broadband gong, while Sky Broadband picked up the award for Best Bundled Broadband and urban ISP Hyperoptic walked away with the title of Most Innovative Broadband.

The study also revealed that only 60% of the country’s broadband customers would recommend their ISP, which is a fall from 70% last year.
