ISP PlusNet UK Slashes Unlimited Broadband and Calls Price to GBP1.99

Posted Wednesday, December 11th, 2013 (1:39 pm) by Mark Jackson (Score 811)

One of our readers has spotted that the price of PlusNet’s 16Mbps unlimited standard broadband and free weekend calls bundle has quietly been cut once again, from £9.99 to just £1.99 a month, for the first 12 months of service (note: it’s also on a 12 month contract).

Sadly the cost of line rental (home phone), which will set you back from the equivalent of +£10.99 a month (i.e. when paying for 12 months in advance), is still applicable. Anytime Calls can also be added for an extra +£5 (includes 25% off several “top” international calling destinations) or +£7 per month if you want to add 300 anytime minutes for the top 35 international destinations alongside anytime UK calls.

Unlimited Broadband and calls
* Typical download speeds of up to 16Mbps
* Truly unlimited usage
* Free wireless router
* Free weekend calls to UK landlines + 0845 and 0870 numbers

PRICE: £1.99 per month for the first 12 months (£9.99 thereafter)

The special offer price is available until 18th December 2013 next week. But take note that customers who live in the last 5-10% or so of the United Kingdom’s predominantly rural areas (i.e. Ofcom’s Market 1) should expect to pay more for the service. Credits to Phil for spotting this.

    No problem Mark J. Glad I had spotted it this morning. Plusnet say that I can have £1.99 for 12 months if I move my line rental phone to them from BT but sadly my BT line rental advanced (upfront last April 2013) as it current contracted until April 2014 or I could lose out the line rental upfront and penalty fee for early cancellation. This offer only last till next week and there will be no more offer after that. :(

    This is when these offers are just plain wrong.

    You MUST take the phone line rental element, therefore the price quoted SHOULD be total price of both elements.

      Also they are 24 months in total (£1.99 for 12 momths then £9.99 for 12 months plus phone line) totally 24 months.

      Well, quite.

      Anyone interested in a high-end ecommerce store?

      Only £5 per month. *

      * plus £2,500 per month web hosting.

    lol another clause to rip you off with line rental so you think you getting a good deal then you can think but obvious making costs elsewhere in line rental crap

    “Sadly the cost of line rental (home phone) … is still applicable.”

    Overall, the cost is still significantly lower (or in the lowest 5) for an unlimited service.

    As a customer, I have to admit some resentment about the reductions made for new customers for market share, compared with loyal existing users…

    By the way, Mr Jackson, could you please desist from future uses of “whom” – it’s rarely correct (should be ‘who’) when you use it in your articles!
