Customers of BT’s TV bundles should benefit after the broadband and phone provider announced that their BTTV Player on YouView and older BTVision (IPTV) set-top-boxes would be getting an update to improve its performance and “redesign” the User Interface (UI) layout.
The director of BT TV, Alex Green, said: “Our update is more than just a makeover. It will improve the performance of BT TV for customers, making navigation easier and faster. This follows our move from the BT Vision brand to simply using the BT master brand to cover our TV services.”
What’s changing in the BT Player?
The new look and feel will allow you to move around menus much more easily and everything will load more quickly. The original view has now been replaced with lists, which means that more menus appear on the screen at once, so finding what you’re looking for is much easier. Text is now displayed in a new font to help with legibility and accessibility, and on the left hand side of the main menu you’ll find ‘quick links’ to the programmes or films you’re currently watching or have bookmarked for later. Any playlists or bookmark lists you’ve already set up will remain, along with anything you’ve already purchased.
Will this change affect my subscriptions at all?
No, you’ll still get the same great programmes included in your subscription and your monthly payments won’t change.
Customers with a YouView box will get the update in July 2014, while those with older BTVision+ hardware will have to wait a little longer until the autumn period. Check out the video below for more.
