Budget ISP Fuel Broadband (formerly Primus Saver) has moved to make their existing offer, which is promoting 12 months of free unlimited broadband (up to 16Mbps) with included UK weekend and evening calls (normally £4 per month), even more attractive by throwing Google’s Chromecast video streaming device into the mix.
The Chromecast is a simple thumb-sized media streaming device that plugs into the HDMI port on your TV and allows you to “cast” (share) entertainment content from your phone or tablet straight to the TV via WiFi. It also works like other streaming devices, such as the Roku, and includes popular TV apps for the BBC’s iPlayer, Netflix, YouTube, BT Sport, NOW TV (Sky), BlinkBox Movies and Google Play etc.
The device itself, when purchased separately, can usually be picked up for around £20. But take note that premium content, such as the live TV channels on Sky’s NOW TV app or Movies via Netflix, typically incurs a separate / optional charge from the content provider.
As usual though Fuel’s service isn’t completely free because customers still have to pay the £15 per month line rental charge, although theoretically the package only has a 12 month contract and so you could switch elsewhere at the end of the term. Otherwise the package also includes a free wireless router and free activation. Note: Anytime UK calls can be added for an additional +£3 per month.
The current offer will be available until 30th December 2014.
