Aggressive competition in the home broadband space appears to be reaching domestic-grade business packages too, with PlusNet Business being today expected to start offering their ‘up to’ 18Mbps capable unlimited Internet access package free for the first 12 months of service (£13 +vat per month thereafter).
The ISP claims that this promotion means they will now offer “the UK’s lowest priced business broadband“, although this perhaps depends upon how each individual chooses to define a “business” service. In our view any such service needs to be accompanied by a strong Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Internet traffic prioritisation. Some aspects of this may exist on PlusNet’s package, but if so then they don’t state it very clearly.
Otherwise customers who take the package should note that they also need to take phone line rental on top at £10.50 +vat per month (standard payg call charges apply) and there’s also a 24 month contract term to consider, with the final 12 months obviously returning to the full price.
Customers will also receive a free wireless router (Technicolor 582n), unlimited email, UK based 24/7 customer support, one free website domain, 250MB of website space and a Static IP address can also be requested.
It’s also possible to add Anytime calls to UK landlines for +£4 per month. Alternatively Anytime UK calls can be bundled with +500 minutes to UK mobiles, US mobiles and landlines in the ISPs top 20 international locations for +£12 and paying +£19 will get you 1000 minutes.
