The Co-operative Phone and Broadband (The Phone Co-op) ISP has announced a sales increase of 6%, with profit before distributions remaining strong at £339,000. As a result the provider’s members, who are also customers, will benefit from a dividend payment of £57,800 (equating to 1.5% of their purchases).
As a co-operative, The Phone Co-op typically shares its profits with their members and in 2012-2013 they gave back over £90,000. Take note that the group appears to have a nationwide fixed broadband, phone and mobile telecommunications customer base of over 30,000 (10,600 are “members“).
Overall The Phone Co-op reported a turnover of £11.2 million and members also approved the separate allocation of £57,800 to support the development of new and expanding co-operatives through the groups Co-operative and Social Economy Development Fund (total value of £363,000).
The providers standard unlimited broadband packages tend to start from £4 per month (£8 after the first six months), while their FTTC superfast broadband packages begin at £14 per month (£18 after the first six months + a £25 setup charge) and both must be taken with phone line rental from £15.50 per month or £12.50 if pre-paid in advance. Free UK weekend calls to 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870 numbers are included in the price.
