TalkTalk Offers £12 Unlimited Mobile SIM Tariff to Broadband Customers

Monday, Apr 27th, 2015 (10:08 am) - Score 2,016

Internet provider TalkTalk has announced that existing customers of their various home broadband, phone and or TV bundles can now take a special mobile SIM-Only tariff that includes unlimited data (Mobile Broadband), texts and calls for “Britain’s lowest price” of £12 per month on a 30 day contract.

But the announcement is bittersweet because it follows hot on the heels of this morning’s sharp price rises (here), which saw increases of +£1.50 per month across nearly all of the ISPs broadband bundles. The hike has been particularly big for those wanting to take TalkTalk’s SimplyBroadband package, which has increased by 42.86% from £3.50 to £5 per month.

Tristia Harrison, TalkTalk’s Consumer MD, said:

We’re revolutionising mobile with our new unlimited SIM. We’ve successfully driven down the average cost of broadband and TV packages in Britain, giving millions of families more for their money. Now we’re doing the same for mobile.

Savvy shoppers are realising that a separate mobile package costs significantly more than taking it together with their broadband and TV. And our great value All-in mobile SIM isn’t just for people streaming and downloading day in day out. For those simply after the best price, this is an unbeatable deal.”

The move is also somewhat of a complement to the ISPs existing promotion, which gives subscribers to their quad-play broadband, phone, TV and mobile “Plus” bundles a free SIM with 100 minutes, 250 texts and 200MB of data per month. At the same time it’s clear that TalkTalk are trying to stay ahead of BTMobile’s move into consumer mobile (here).

Note: TalkTalk’s mobile network (MVNO) is based off Vodafone’s platform (moving to O2 soon) and, just to be clear, the ISP said that their new £12 All-in SIM deal, which is available until 30th June 2015, has “no download limits or slowing down at peak times and customers can use as much of the Internet as they want without being charged extra.” However unlimited mobile data is still subject to their Good Network Guidelines.

In addition, if a customer cancels their TalkTalk broadband account then the cost of the all-in SIM will rise to £24 a month and the package will change to 2000 minutes, unlimited texts and 2GB of data a month.
