A new survey of 3,000 consumers by fibre optic broadband ISP Hyperoptic, which appears to consist largely of London dwellers, has found that Brits would sooner sacrifice chocolate (45%), alcohol (24%) or sex (22%) for a week than their broadband connection (9%).
The poll also claims to have found that the average Londoner spends 12 hours a day connected to the web, which is apparently three hours more than the average Brit (9 hours per day). Mind you we suspect that this figure includes time spent sitting on front of an Internet connected computer at work, since if it was 12 hours per day at home then.. well there would be a lot of zombies about (could be true).
The amount of content streamed by respondents via their televisions is also rising. Some 43% choose to download HD TV and 25% stream high definition TV. In addition, those who stream claimed that buffering can happen up to eight times an hour at peak times and so it’s little wonder that over half of people that download video (52%) just do it to ensure a buffer-free quality experience.
