Statistical experts RootMetrics have today published a report into the mobile network performance of EE, Three UK, Vodafone and O2 across 16 of the United Kingdom’s largest cities, which reveals that EE delivers the overall best performance thanks to their stronger 4G network. But the others are catching.
Crucially the latest report also includes a split of 4G and non-4G (i.e. 3G and 2G Data) network performance, which is something that prior studies have tended to lack and this reveals that Three UK are still broadly top for the older styles of mobile data connectivity; often besting their rivals.
But overall there’s little disputing that EE continue to hold the 4G performance and coverage crown. The operator delivered median download speeds of above 20Mbps more often than any other network and they recorded this in 12 of the 16 cities tested. By comparison Vodafone, the next closest competitor, did so only three times.
