BTOpenreach has announced another round of significant price reductions on their high-capacity business focused Ethernet services, such as the 10Gbps Ethernet Backhaul Direct (EBD) and Wholesale Extension Services (WES).
The price changes, which range from decreases of -40% on faster services to just -6% on their 100Mbps Backhaul Extension Services (BES), are due to be introduced from 1st August 2015 and reflect Openreach’s compliance with Ofcom’s regulatory charge controls for the 2015/16 period.
Apparently these are the final reductions, although Ofcom’s on-going 2016 Business Connectivity Review is currently consulting upon further adjustments for the future (here) as part of their continuing strategy to bring down prices.
One of the biggest changes includes a -40% cut in the £12,000 connection charge for Openreach’s EBD 10Gbit/s Band A service (now £7,200) and a -30% fall in the annual rental fee from £13,962 to £9,773.4 for the same product. Plenty of other services have also been reduced – See Here for a Full List.
