Belfast-based Rainbow Communications, which last year gobbled 10,000 of UTV Connect’s residential and business Internet access subscribers for an undisclosed sum (here), has recently signed a new multi-million pound deal with BTWholesale for the supply of managed broadband and phone services.
Sadly not much has been revealed about the two year deal, although BTWholesale’s Frank McManus does hint that it will give Rainbow access to, among other things, “next generation cloud services, voice over IP and hosted applications.”
Eric Carson, Director of Rainbow Communications, said:
“Rainbow is committed to delivering a quality and reliable service to our customers. This new agreement with BT Wholesale, for the supply of calls and managed broadband including superfast broadband services, will ensure that our customers continue to receive the quality service they expect, whilst enabling them to access the latest cloud technologies.”
It’s worth pointing out that Rainbow still doesn’t list any consumer home broadband or phone packages on their website, which is despite last year’s UTV acquisition. This is normally the approach taken by ISPs that have more of an interest in the business side of things than domestic broadband.
