Virgin Media has put the feelers out to find existing customers and small business owners whose work or “everyday lives have been made better” and or “changed” by their “ultrafast” cable broadband service. Apparently the end goal is to create a short film, which seems likely to form part of a PR exercise.
The call-up is only open to those who currently subscribe to their 100Mbps or 152Mbps service (hence “ultrafast“) and we suspect that you probably won’t be paid for helping to promote the service, although for some a few moments of semi-fame is probably its own reward. Plus you might get a chance to punch Virgin’s sometimes vaguely insulting Sofa Bear ™ mascot in the face, but probably not.
The closing date for applications is August 28th 2015 (sign-up form) and for the filming itself you’d need to be available for one day between the 5th-13th September 2015. The date choice suggests that this film will probably be used to help promote the operators forthcoming double-speed boost, which from October will start to push their top speeds up to 300Mbps (here).
