Cable operator Virgin Media Business has been awarded preferred supplier status in all ten categories of the Government’s new Network Service Framework (NSF), which is expected to attract a big dollop public sector ICT spend by the end of this year.
Overall the public sector spends billions on technology and services, which VMB will be hoping to take a slice of by becoming a viable communications provider for public sector organisations like schools and the emergency services etc.
Suppliers are only approved for a category after they have passed a series of technical and commercial hurdles.
Peter Kelly, VMB’s Managing Director, said:
“Virgin Media Business has a long track record of working in partnership with the public sector. It’s essential these organisations have the tools and solutions they need to securely communicate, share information and collaborate with each other. We are delighted to be recognised by Crown Commercial Services as a preferred partner with outstanding products and services.”
However it should be noted that VMB already has a long history of supplying parts of the public sector with different solutions, although the new award means they’re now able to cater for many more areas. We’ve listed the ten lots offered through the Network Services Framework below.
