Customers of Virgin Media’s cable broadband service, specifically some of those with ntlworld.com, blueyonder.co.uk and virginmedia.com based email addresses, have since Friday been suffering from an intermittent problem that is hampering their access via the ISPs Webmail and IMAP system.
Initially the operator, which has suffered from a lot of technical and SPAM related problems since they began migrating customers from their old Google (Gmail) based platform and on to the new semi-in-house system (example), reported on Saturday that the fault had been resolved.
Unfortunately it soon became clear that the issue had not been completely fixed and yesterday evening the following update was posted.
Virgin’s Webmail Fault Update – 16th Nov 2015
It appears this issue is still ongoing.
Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this is causing. Our engineers are continuing to work hard to get this resolved as soon as possible.
Kind regards

History shows that big broadband ISPs generally struggle to deliver a quality email service, especially if any kind of major account migration process is required as that invariably creates a lot of problems for customers.
As a rule we always say that if you depend upon email then it’s far better to adopt a free-mail provider or to pay a small fee for dedicated email, which also gives you more freedom to switch broadband providers as there’s less to hold you in one place.
