ISP WiSpire, which offers faster wireless broadband services to isolated parts of rural Norfolk, has today launched a new website and revamped their packages. Some of the changes include the addition of a new 30Mbps package and a Broadband Delivery UK subsidised option for those in sub-2Mbps areas.
Norfolk is of course one of England’s most rural counties and as such the Government backed Better Broadband for Norfolk project has so far only been able to extend “fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) services to around 83% of local premises (here), which should rise to 90% by 2017. But that still leaves a lot of areas with slower speeds, which is where WiSpire may help.
However until recently the fastest package available from WiSpire was a mediocre 10Mbps service, but after some network upgrades the new website has finally introduce an unlimited 30Mbps (2Mbps upload) option. Sadly the price for this is £50 per month and that’s before we add in the £199.99 one-off installation fee (12 month contract), although for many people it will probably be worth the cost.
On top of that there’s also a new unlimited 10Mbps HOME XL package, which costs £22 per month + £50 installation. The price on this one is being reduced by a Government subsidy (USC) through the Broadband Delivery UK programme.
