Kent-based wireless broadband ISP VFast has, in an unexpected move, become the latest provider to offer services over GTC’s 300Mbps open access Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) network, which is available to a number of new build home developments around the United Kingdom.
Apparently VFast will be adding a choice of four packages to GTC’s FTTH network, with a range of prices to suit different requirements (extras include free voice lines, no monthly traffic limits, free webspace and email addresses). The ISP is the latest to join up after the imaginatively named ‘Love Your Broadband‘ also hooked into GTC ‘s network last month (here).
Tom Brough, Sales Director at GTC, said:
“Our strategy of open access and our ultra-fast fibre-to-the-home networks make GTC an appealing option for service providers and housebuilders alike. Home buyers now view having fast and reliable broadband as being as essential as having water and electricity, and the savvy buyer expects to have a choice of providers.”
Rebecca Brown, Managing Director of Vfast, said:
“Providing a service on GTC’s fibre network gives us greater access to the fast-growing new-build market across the UK. We are able to offer new home owners a variety of high quality broadband packages and have been doing so for nearly a decade. The open access networks installed by GTC increase the options for competition in the fibre broadband market, which benefits house builders and homeowners.”
It’s unusual for a wireless ISP like VFast to be focusing on the FTTH market, but it’s also possible that GTC could be involved in some developments around Kent that would make the deal a good fit for their business plan. At the time of writing we couldn’t see any related packages on VFast’s website, but they’ll probably be setting up something special for it.
UPDATE
We’ve been informed by VFast that the related page for their FTTH packages can be found here, which shows prices starting from £24.99 per month for a 30Mbps (5Mbps upload) package with unlimited usage and free wireless router.
