Hyperoptic Build 1Gbps Broadband to 20 Property Developments in Croydon

Friday, Jun 2nd, 2017 (9:00 am) - Score 1,135

UK ISP Hyperoptic has now expanded their ultrafast Fibre-to-the-Building (FTTB/P) network into the London borough of Croydon, with 20 large residential apartment buildings (Multi-Dwelling Units) being among the first to benefit and 10 more undergoing installation or being planned for the future.

The provider’s commercial FTTB network is entirely urban focused and so tends to cater for big office blocks or large apartment buildings (i.e. those with at least 50 units), although they have recently branched out to cover a few housing estates and social housing areas.

Some of the first buildings in Croydon to have the service installed include ‘New South Quarter‘, ‘The Altitude Latitude Apartments‘ and ‘City House‘.

Steve Holford, Hyperoptic’s Chief Customer Officer, said:

“Croydon has firmly established itself as one the UK’s leading technology hubs – over 1,000 digital and tech companies are based in the borough. Entrepreneurs are working tirelessly to build the next generation of tech startups from their home. Having a robust ultrafast digital infrastructure is essential for this hub to thrive and succeed.

Gigabit broadband is not the ‘broadband of the future’ – it is needed today so that as our homes become even more smart and our data needs increase, we aren’t having to suffer a painful transition. Businesses need connectivity that helps them, rather than hinders their development.”

Hyperoptic hope to cover over 500,000 UK “homes” by the end of 2019 and their network is also present in many other parts of London, as well as around bits of Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff, Bristol, Reading, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Newcastle, Nottingham, Brighton, Portsmouth, Watford, Leicester, Southampton, Slough, Edinburgh and Woking etc.

Customers are able to choose from either a broadband and phone bundle or a broadband-only service on a 12 month contract (the latter attracts a £40 one-off connection fee). You can also get a “no contract” option of both, although this usually costs an extra +£2-£4 per month.

All of Hyperoptic’s packages include unlimited usage, 24/7 support, an included wireless router and a dynamic IP address (CGNAT) or £5 for a Static IP.
