Zen Internet UK ISP Drops Small Business Broadband Prices

After reducing their residential broadband prices Zen Internet has today announced further price drops – varying from between 8% and 22% – across their range of small business focused packages. This mostly appears to impact their standard ADSL, “superfast” FTTC and “ultrafast” G.fast based bundles (FTTP plans are unchanged).

UK ISP BT has introduced a significant reduction worth up to £10-£15 off the monthly price of their two fixed line “ultrafast broadband” packages, which are sold via the hybrid fibre G.fast and full fibre FTTP technologies. The catch is that you now have to take out a lengthy 24 month contract term.

Cable ISP Virgin Media UK has moved to discount the monthly price of their solo standalone broadband (no phone required) packages by £7 for new customers. For example, their entry-level 54Mbps plan drops to just £30 per month and 362Mbps falls to £45 per month for the first 12 months of service.

Rochdale-based UK ISP Zen Internet has informed us that they’ve further reduced the standard monthly price of their FTTC (VDSL2) based Unlimited Fibre 2 (66Mbps average) broadband and phone bundle, which appears to have gone from £38.99 per month at our last check to £34.99, albeit with a £19.99 one-off activation fee.

On top of that they’ve also added two new benefits to their packages, which includes a 6 months free weekend call plan and 6 months free F-Secure SAFE (internet security).

Budget ISP TalkTalk appears to have responded to Vodafone’s recent promotion by discounting the cost of their Fibre-to-the-Cabinet (FTTC) based “Faster Fibre with Speed Boost” (67Mbps average) broadband and phone bundle to just £23.50 per month. Confusingly this makes it the same price as their slower 38Mbps plan.

BT‘s consumer division has today announced the start of their annual student broadband deals ahead of the new term, which as per usual feature shorter 9 month contract terms as an option alongside the usual 12 month ones. Sadly they only seem to be offering this on their slower 50Mbps and 67Mbps (FTTC) plans.

Virgin Media UK Discounts Standalone Ultrafast Broadband Prices

Cable ISP Virgin Media has discounted the price of their 50Mbps to 350Mbps standalone broadband packages by -£7 per month for the first 12 months of service, which for example means that you’d now pay from £30 per month (£37 from month 13) for their entry-level 50Mbps package and £45 for 350Mbps (£52 from month 13).

Giffgaff UK Refreshes 4G Mobile Tariffs with Double the Data

Mobile operator giffgaff has once again (they seem to do it each year) refreshed their range of 4G mobile “goodybag” plans by effectively doubling the data (mobile broadband) allowances on three of their mid-range tariffs, which for example means that for £15 per month you’ll now get 15GB instead of 8GB.
