Mobile operator Vodafone UK has quietly dropped support for Virgin Media’s (VMO2) Wi-Fi network on the London Underground, which means that customers who want to get online with this wireless broadband service will now have to pay for a pass instead of connecting for free (1 day = £3, 1 Week = £5 or 1 Month = £15).

UK ISP TalkTalk has confirmed that their new CityFibre and Openreach based Future Fibre packages, which offer top broadband speeds of up to 500Mbps via Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) technology, have been extended to homes in the cities of Cambridge, Stirling, Leicester and Leeds – provided you’re within reach of the network.

Mobile operator Vodafone has today announced that they’re working with strategic supplier Ericsson to deploy a new cloud-native dual-mode (Single Packet) core for their new 5G Standalone (SA) network in the United Kingdom. Until now, the technology had only been deployed on the campus of Coventry University in July 2020.

The Welsh Government has released a Q1 2021 progress update on their £52.5m Phase 2 Superfast Cymru contract with BT (Openreach), which reveals that 19,919 premises (up from 15,649 in Q4 2020) have now gained access to the operator’s gigabit-capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network.
