Broadband ISP and full fibre network builder Ogi has today announced that they’ve begun a new pilot programme with schools in Wales, which is initially investing £10,000 to help local schools in the country bring STEM subjects (i.e. science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to life for pupils in years 5-9.

Budget UK ISP Plusnet, which is part of the BT Group, appears to have now officially stopped taking on new SME (small and medium-sized) business customers. A message on their website confirms that the products are “no longer available” and instead directs new customers to take up packages directly with BT.

Consumer and wholesale broadband provider TalkTalk has today announced that they’ve agreed a new “strategic partnership” with Telecom Acquisitions Ltd, which manages a multitude of broadband ISP brands and products (e.g. Home Telecom, Fleur Telecom, Hive Telecom and Eclipse Broadband).

Energy and communications provider Telecom Plus, which trades as UW (Utility Warehouse), has published their latest biannual (H1 FY23) report and revealed that they ended the period with 341,392 broadband ISP customers (up by 17,769 in the last 6 months) and 364,062 mobile customers (up by 39,289).

Network builder F&W Networks – supported by UK ISP Hey!Broadband – has today signed a 1-year supply deal with equipment distributor Cable & Things worth £1.3 million, which will provide the operator with underground and PIA ultralightweight overhead fibre optic cables, distribution and joint boxes etc.

A new report from Actual Experience, which has a vested interest in that it operates a hybrid workplace management system, has claimed homes that suffer from a “poor broadband” ISP connection have led to the loss of £1,000 per average worker – or £60bn across the whole UK economy – per year.

Independent rural broadband ISP GoFibre (BorderLink) has announced the appointment of Neil Conaghan as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The move is part of the provider’s effort to expand their full fibre (FTTP) network to cover 500,000 premises (here) in the North of England and Scottish Borders by around the end of 2025.

Broadband ISP TalkTalk Business appears to have joined the Black Friday discounts by giving away the first three months of service for free to new customers across all of their various Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) packages, which offer download speeds of between 80Mbps and up to 900Mbps+.

BT has re-entered negotiations with the Communications Workers Union (CWU) to hopefully settle the ongoing pay dispute with up to 38,000 employees, which has so far resulted in 8 days worth of national UK strikes. The move comes only a day after the operator’s CEO, Philip Jansen, described the matter as “closed” and seemed to reject further talks.
