Mobile operators Three UK and Vodafone have revealed that they will start re-opening their high street stores on 15th June 2020, albeit with new social distancing measures to help protect both staff and customers alike. The move comes after EE (BT) confirmed (here) that all of their stores would also reopen on the same date.

Broadband ISP TalkTalk has confirmed that a small number of jobs will be cut in the city of York, which is where they had been building a new Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) network via the FibreNation brand until its recent sale (here) to the Goldman Sachs backed Cityfibre for around £200m cash.

Mobile operator and ISP Vodafone UK has launched a new promotion to help small businesses get through the COVID-19 crisis, which essentially offers them free broadband with unlimited usage and free access to Microsoft 365 Business Standard’s full suite of flexible business tools for a whole 6 months.

Cable and fibre optic broadband ISP Virgin Media UK has today decided that they will NOT reopen any of their 53 remaining high street retail stores after the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) lockdown ends, although all of those impacted by the move (341 staff) will be offered alternative roles within the company.

The European Court of Justice (General Court) has today annulled a decision by the European Commission’s competition authority, which in 2016 blocked mobile operators O2 and Three UK from merging. The ruling found that the decision to block the £10.45bn deal had failed to prove that such a merger would damage competition.
