Internet service provider YouFibre, which predominantly harnesses Netomnia’s growing UK Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) based network (currently available to 600,000 premises), has today officially taken the wrappings off one of the country’s fastest 8Gbps (Gigabits per second) broadband packages for homes!

Broadband ISP and network builder Brsk, which has so far deployed their own gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network to 250,000 UK premises (RFS) – mostly in the Midlands (rollout plan), is facing a petition from 40 residents in Burnley who want to see their newly installed telecoms poles removed.

Scottish ISP Lothian Broadband (LBN), which is building a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) network across rural parts of East Lothian, the Highlands and Fife, has announced that they’re extending into the rural areas surrounding the city of Stirling – starting with 3,400 premises across three villages.

UK ISP Yayzi Broadband, which mainly sells packages via Cityfibre’s national Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network, has made a bold move today by scrapping their existing 150Mbps and 500Mbps packages in order to focus on a 1Gbps and new 2.5Gbps tier. But to compensate for this, they’ve introduced a huge price discount.

Infracapital-backed ISP Fibrus, which is rolling out a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband network across Northern Ireland and the North of England, has today revealed that their network now covers 300,000 premises (up from 250k in March) and is home to 50,000 customers (up from 36,000).

Network access provider Openreach (BT) has revealed that their 1.8Gbps capable UK Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband ISP network now covers a total of 949,000 properties in Scotland (up from 800,000 in mid-March 2023), which is estimated to have cost them around £280m (assumes an average of £300 per premises passed).

Network operator CityFibre has today announced that their 10Gbps capable full fibre (FTTP) broadband ISP network now covers 3 million UK premises (up from 2.5m in January 2023) and 2.6 million of those are considered to be ‘Ready For Service’ (up from 2.2m), which means that residents can place an order with one of around 35-40 ISPs.

Rural focused ISP and network builder GoFibre (BorderLink), which is deploying a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) broadband service across the North of England and Scottish Borders area, has expanded their rollout in Aberdeenshire by starting to build across the small town of Laurencekirk.

London-focused network builder and UK broadband ISP CommunityFibre, which is rolling out a 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network across the city, has today refreshed their brand to update their look and feel. The new logo is still based around an optical fibre cable, although they’ve gone with a lot more green.

A few months ago Ofcom launched a new consultation that proposed to only allow broadband ISPs to use the terms “fibre” and “full-fibre” on their sites and in contracts “if their network uses fibre-optic cables all the way from the exchange to the home” (FTTP). But feedback suggests that the biggest providers are not supportive.

Some 51,000 premises across the East Lothian settlement of Musselburgh in Scotland, including the surrounding area, will soon benefit after Netomnia, supported by UK ISP YouFibre, started a £15.3 million project to deploy a new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) broadband network across the location.
