Low cost broadband ISP TalkTalk has worked with internet security firm F-Secure to launch a new Password Manager app as part of their “SuperSafe Boost“, which securely stores logins so customers only need to remember one master password as the app automatically populates log-in details.

A demand for Facebook and other companies to delay or cease plans for implementing end-to-end encryption across their internet messaging services, which was made by the UK, USA and Australian governments, has today prompted the European ISP Association (EuroISPA) to “oppose” any weakening of encryption.

Firefox Says – NO DNS Over HTTPS (DoH) by Default for UK

In a surprise twist Mozilla has informed the Government that they now have “no plans” to enable the DNS-over-HTTPS security feature by default for UK internet users in their popular Firefox website browser, at least not without “further engagement with public and private stakeholders.” Doh!

UK ISP Andrews & Arnold Trial DNS over HTTPS (DoH) and DoT

Broadband ISP Andrews & Arnold (AAISP) has today announced that they’ve started a trial of both DNS over HTTPS (DoH) and DNS over TLS (DoT) services, which encrypts Domain Name System requests (i.e. turning IP addresses into human readable domains like ISPreview.co.uk and back again) in order to make them secure.

Google Chrome v77 Browser Breaks Netgear Router Logins

Anybody using the popular Google Chrome website browser, which since 10th September has been updated to its latest v77 release, should take note that if you own a Netgear and some other broadband routers then due to a bug you may be unable to login via the device’s web-based admin page (192.168.1.1).

ISP Association on the Risks of Brexit, DoH and UK Full Fibre Targets

Andrew Glover, Chair of the UK ISPA, has told ISPreview in a new interview that a no-deal Brexit could harm both the industry’s supply chain and access to a skilled workforce. Glover also warns that DNS over HTTPS (DoH) raises a “host of security concerns” and says “considerable regulatory change” is needed to hit full fibre targets.

Trustwave Find Multiple Vulnerabilities in D-Link and Comba Routers

A new survey of 2,000 British people by the Oxford Internet Institute (OII) has helped to shed new light on the reason why some people (18% of respondents) still choose NOT to use the internet. A new YouGov survey of 1,017 UK adults, which was commissioned by NewsGuard and conducted between 27th June to 2nd July 2019, has found that 51% of respondents would trust their broadband ISP or mobile network operator more if they pro-actively alerted users as to the quality of a news website being accessed.

A number of customers from cable broadband provider Virgin Media are reporting that the ISP has blocked the whole of the popular picture sharing website Imgur.com through its Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) linked proxy filter, which normally only targets criminal pages that depict indecent images of children.
