Fixed wireless UK ISP Quickline (Bigblu Broadband) has put in a new planning application to install equipment on top of the Church of St Helen in the rural parish of West Keal (Lincolnshire), which could result in around 370 premises within a 10 mile radius gaining access to superfast broadband (30Mbps+) speeds.

After deploying in London, Leeds and Glasgow, BT has announced the first roll-out of 14 InLinkUK smart kiosks in central Southampton (Hampshire), which claim to offer the “UK’s fastest free public Wi-Fi” (‘up to’ 1Gbps), free UK phone calls, USB device charging and a range of other digital services to people in the vicinity.

Wireless UK ISP Airband, which holds a number of multi-million pound state aid fuelled contracts to deploy “superfast broadband” (30Mbps+) across rural parts of Devon and Somerset, appears to have got itself into trouble with South Hams District Council after they built a 24 metre high mast without permission.

Alternative network ISP County Broadband has followed last year’s pilot roll-out of a new 1000Mbps (Gigabit) capable Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH/P) service in the rural Cambridgeshire village of Broughton (here) by securing an investment of £46m with Aviva Investors. The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority has put £5.6m toward supporting the launch of their new ‘Delivering Digital Connectivity Strategy’, which aims to “significantly improve mobile, broadband and public WiFi coverage, whilst securing future proof full fibre [FTTP] and 5G networks.”

After a long battle UK ISP Vispa has finally started the construction of a new Mast site on Croker Hill (south of Macclesfield), which will enable them to extend their 60Mbps capable superfast fixed wireless broadband network to cover poorly served homes and businesses in East Cheshire (England).
