Contention Ratio
Date Posted: 27 July, 2009 | Views: 1137 | Article ID: 79

This defines how many users share a single allocation of bandwidth, typically the bandwidth an ISP defines for a specific area, town or telephone exchange etc. Note that older dialup ISP's defined contention ratio's as a statistical average for the number of customers to a single dialup access point (ISP side modem adapter). Having too high a dialup contention could mean an inability to connect during busy periods.
