The British wing of Hong Kong’s (PCCW), UK Broadband (Now), has been fined after it failed to file its annual accounts on time. The wireless ISP has been struggling over the past few months, dogged by rumours of a sale and outdated services (here) while at the same time playing up its WiMAX ambitions (here).
The Business Times reports that UK Broadband was due to file its figures for 2006 at the end of October but failed to do so, resulting in Companies House having to issue an automatic fine:
It's not known precisely how much the provider has been fined, although to our knowledge it can range anywhere from a few hundred to £5,000 .

The fine also comes amid speculation about Now’s future and possible position as a consolidation target. It is known to have held talks with Pipex, the British broadband group that was recently acquired by Tiscali. UK Broadband declined to return calls yesterday. PCCW’s website describes its UK product as a “great success”.
