Commercial WiMAX Lands On The Isle of Man

UPDATE: Correction: Manx Telecom and Wi-Manx are separate companies. Wi-Manx has launched the first commercial WiMAX broadband wireless network in Europe on The Isle of Man. Unfortunately it only covers the capital, Douglas and nearby towns, although there are plans for further expansion.

Curiously the network, which is based off WiMAX hardware, operates on non-WiMAX frequencies (3.6GHz to 3.8GHz). In other words it's only 'technically' the first commercial WiMAX network in Europe. Meanwhile rivals continue to trial similar products.
