Elton John Calls For The Internet To Be CLOSED

Posted: 02nd Aug, 2007 By: MarkJ
Popular Musician Elton John has suggested that the Internet be shut down for five years as a means towards seeing "what sort of art is produced over that span". Elton's view is that the Internet has been killing creativity, which is the opposite of most perceptions:

He believes that the technology was stopping people going out and interacting with other artists, as well as making the general population too passive. “Hopefully the next movement in music will tear down the internet," he told The Sun in an interview.

“Let’s get out in the streets and march and protest instead of sitting at home and blogging. I do think it would be an incredible experiment to shut down the whole internet for five years and see what sort of art is produced over that span."

He described himself as a luddite when it comes to technology and said he didn't own a mobile phone or an iPod.

Despite all this he still somehow managed to get his entire back catalogue online for paid downloads, perhaps it hasn't been selling? So yes, let’s all gang up and shut down the Internet plummeting the world into poverty and an economic crisis, genius.

It’s a wonder nobody thought of that before and it would even solve ISP congestion problems. More @ VNUNet.
