Virgin.net has officially announced the introduction of its 'up to' 8Mbps broadband (Max based) packages, although they're essentially the same ones as before, albeit with a higher potential speed:
Existing Virgin.net Broadband Plan One (£24.99) and Plan Two (£17.99) customers will be offered the new super fast speeds free of charge over the coming weeks, whilst new customers taking the broadband Plans will enjoy the higher speed when they join. Virgin.net customers are not tied into a 12 or 18 month contract and still receive free activation and a free modem.
Rigorous testing of the new up to 8 Mbps service found that nearly 60% of trialists received between 6 and 8 Mbps speeds with a further 17% receiving between 4 and 6 Mbps.http://www.virgin.net .
