Virgin Media Targets World’s Fastest Man for Broadband Advert

Virgin Media is reported to be seeking the assistance of Usain Bolt (22), whom recently became the world’s fastest man at this year’s Olympic Games, to appear as the public face of its forthcoming 'up to' 50Mbps cable broadband product.

Bolt won gold in both the men's 100 and 200 metre finals, setting world record times in both. Naturally Ashley Stockwell, Virgin Media's head of marketing, is keen to capitalise:

Quote from The Guardian: "Our new 50Mb service will deliver even faster lightning broadband speeds, which is why we feel that Usain will be the perfect ambassador for our campaign."

It's understood that Virgin are even considering naming the product after the runner, with "Boltband" being bandied about the media. Movie star Uma Thurman fronted Virgin's previous £20m advertising campaign.
