Jupiter Research has estimated that roughly one quarter (1.8bn) of the worlds entire population will be connected to the Internet by 2012, growing by 44% since 2007. Asia is expected to lead the boom, with China having the largest number of regular Internet users in the world. India, Russia and Brazil will also play a big part.
