Samknows carries word that UK ISP
Be Broadband (
O2) is gearing up to begin a multi million pound network capacity upgrade. This could help to alleviate some of the growing pains that have resulted from taking on so many new customers:
Be's Managing Director, Felix Geyr, said: "Its true, though, that we have some capacity issues and thats why weve got this funding to improve the network. Our customers normally come to us for our high speeds and good performance and a lot of them are in to gaming and downloading, so performance is very important to them, and so theyve noticed any drop in speed, whether real or perceived, far more than another ISPs customers would."
Certainly
Be Broadband (
O2) continue to come top or near the top of most broadband speed tests (see the news item below for one such example), so it's hardly in dire straits but clearly some customers have noticed a drop. The upgrade work should start paying performance dividends within a month or two.
