Customers of UK ISP Orange (France Telecom), including their counterparts in France, have accused the broadband provider of blocking the world’s largest bittorrent (P2P - File Sharing) tracker - The Pirate Bay.

The reports began surfacing last Friday, with customers noting that not even a change to different OpenDNS servers would allow either the website or its mirrors to be displayed. In a statement to Torrent Freak Orange said:

"Our understanding is that Orange doesn’t block access to any sites other than those identified by the Internet Watch Foundation, that relate to illegal child abuse imagery. However, we’re looking into this and will update you again as soon as we can."

The Pirate Bay itself is also known to be investigating the issue. Meanwhile customers can reportedly make use of external proxy servers, such as BlockedSiteAccess.com or Megaproxy, to bring the site up on Orange.
