Tariam Acquired by Satellite Solutions Worldwide Ltd

Posted: 06th Dec, 2008 By: MarkJ
Troubled UK satellite ISP Tariam has been acquired by the little known 'Satellite Solutions Worldwide' (SSW). This relatively new organisation, headed by Andrew Walwyn, states that it has "every intention of honouring existing contracts that we know of."

Walwyn informs that his group approached former Tariam owner, Simon Clifton, and having understood the business model purchased the domain name and customer base. The new owners have also issued the following statement:

Tariam Ltd that used to supply your satellite service has run into financial difficulties as a result of a fraud committed on the company by an employee. This is now being investigated by the police. Although the company isn’t in liquidation or administration, it isn’t taking on new customers and has effectively ceased trading. It’s expected that it will be many months before a clear picture of what will happen to the old company emerges, as the full extent of the fraud has happened is only just coming to light.

Satellite Solutions Worldwide Ltd which is an unconnected satellite communications company under different management, ownership and staff, has taken over the website and systems of the Tariam Ltd, and is trying to resolve the issues of old Tariam Ltd customers, and to effect a seamless continuation of connectivity where possible.

The management of Satellite Solutions Worldwide has over 60 years experience in telecommunications and logistics, and is investing in new infrastructure to support existing and new customers and to continue where Tariam Ltd left off in providing a one stop shop for all your satellite communications requirements.

Satellite Solutions is in the process of implementing a new billing and support system to deliver industry leading customer support to back-up Tariam’s best of breed satellite communications products.

Whilst Satellite Solutions will try and effect connectivity and support existing customers, it has no financial connection or links with the old company, and cannot answer enquiries of a financial nature regarding Tariam Ltd.

Walwyn is perhaps best known for being the MD of Tiny Computers during its troubled last stand, although he has also worked for The Carphone Warehouse and been sales Director for DX Communications, among other things.

Naturally Tariams Homenet (TooWay) customers with outstanding hardware orders will want to know when their expensive kit can be expected to arrive. Customers in this situation are urged to contact Tom Wheeler at the following address: tom.wheeler@tariam.co.uk .

It’s understood that new telephone numbers will go live next week on their website.
