The latest research from Analysys has reported that European broadband operators are expected to become more competitive as they all vie for a slice of the lucrative home based access market:
Broadband operators could generate up to EU10bn [in five years] by providing broadband home services such as communications, entertainment, IT and security services.
"These services could be delivered over the fixed broadband internet, but many of them could equally well be delivered over broadcast TV networks using mobile phones to provide interactivity," said Margaret Hopkins, author of the report.
Hopkins argues that there is a race on between ISPs, mobile operators and broadcasters to control broadband services to the home.Given that many areas remain uncovered by the key technologies, it could be a long battle. More @
