As promised, UK ISP Virgin.net has just issued us with their official response to the recent problems highlighted by our readers. Sadly there's not much detail and little more to go on than the previous item:
Response to Issues Raised by ISP Review,
Virgin.net is aware that its broadband service is not currently running at the service levels demanded and expected by either ourselves or our users.
The recent deterioration in service has been caused by hardware failures within our network. The issue is being addressed by the replacement of the under-performing element and this will be completed by November 13th.
Meanwhile, we are grateful to our loyal users and we thank them for their understanding and patience.
We are committed to providing the best possible Internet access services. We are the only Top 5 ISP that offers a like-for-like broadband service without a 12 month contract - for less than £25.00 a month - with free activation and we are continually rated as one of the fastest and best quality UK broadband providers.
For many Virgin's response could be seen as too little, too late.
