Summary: Support levels now intolerable
October 28th, 2009 (Last Edited: October 28th, 2009)
I too was very happy with F2S until the Tiscali take over.

My main complaint now is with the quality of support. I made a simple request to remove the 'catch-all' from my account. It took 22 days, 10 requests via their ticket system and a letter to the Managing Director to get this change implemented.

Two month later and they changed it back! Since when I have had no response from support at all (14 days later).

I requested a MAC code so that I could migrate to a professional ISP and I'm still waiting for that (Ofcom time limit expires at close of business today). I did get a reply offering me lots of goodies and a big reduction in price but that just goes to show how poor their added-value has become.

Not only am I no longer recommending this ISP but I have written to all the people to whom I have recommended them in the past recommending that they switch ASAP.

Summary: Moved from F2s to O2
April 18th, 2009 (Last Edited: April 18th, 2009)
Been with f2s for about 6 years but when Tiscali took over the company and managed the infrastructure ie "Traffic Management" the service became worse and worse until recently it was a joke trying to use it after 17:30 pm.

During the day you were guaranteed 10Mb but after 17:30PM and the Traffic Management policy kicked in I was receiving about 2.5Mb (if lucky) but at worse .5Mb.

The company was not interested in when you complained and this was a shame as they were a good outfit once.
I wouldnt be surprised if they close down at some point.

Ive only been with O2 for a few days but their customer service is superb, and I'm receiving download speeds of 16Mb at peak times and during the day, and the best thing of all its a lot cheaper than I was paying.

Should have moved ages ago!!!

Summary: leaving f2s after 4 years
March 9th, 2009 (Last Edited: March 9th, 2009)
F2S was recommended to me four years ago by the guy who ran my computer at work. At that time they were an independent company and provided intelligent personal service. Since then they have been taken over by Pipex and then Tiscali and things have gone down hill so I'm leaving (for ICUK).

There always seems to be some problem with the mail server. Looking at the Received: lines, this may be because every incoming email gets forwarded several times between F2S machines; some of these internal hops sometimes take hours or days.

Support is by a ticket system that often files messages into oblivion.

Several of the configuration options only take effect after an overnight batch job, whereas at ISPs that run cPanel they happen immediately.

I gave seven weeks' notice of termination and got my MAC code quickly, but the billing system is unstoppable.

WARNING: when you want to leave, replace your credit card details with an expired card, because they WILL try to obtain payment for cancelled future services.

I don't have an opinion about speed, and am only setting this field because ISPreview forces me to do so.

Summary: Broadband OK, POP3 rubbish
January 5th, 2009 (Last Edited: January 5th, 2009)
The broadband seems pretty reliable and I nearly always get the full 8MB in central London, but the POP3 email server often goes down on Saturday or Sunday and isn't restored until Monday lunchtime (they only work office hours). Support is helpful, but there can be a long wait getting to them.

Summary: Now Owned by Tiscali.....
April 20th, 2008 (Last Edited: April 28th, 2008)
Well I was a really happy F2S custmer for about c.3-4 years. When 8mb became available I was constantly achieving 6-7mb. Then Tiscali bought them sometime late last year. I was concerned, but nothing much happened for a while I still got my great connection speeds. Then about 6-8 weeks ago i thought they were having network problems as connection was internmittent and speeds were well down, this is still the case (on 3 accounts at different addresses). I think this is the Tiscali effect dumping new users on the f2s infrastructure, I now rarely achieve more than 1.5 - 2mb. Not happy looking for a new ISP for me and the family.
