Orbital Net

I am 4k from the BT exchange, but have 100m of ally cable down the lane that BT have not changed despite many prods from me. The other side of the ally stuff, 400m from me shows 4meg on the postcode checker, I show 1meg! and that's on a good day and there are frequent breaks in service.

Thus forced to find radical alternatives I came across Orbital (VFast).

A couple of emails later and a site survey showed I had line of site to their Manston transmitter some 12 miles away.

VFst were looking for coverage in this area and quickly installed a small mast on my roof and a repeater.

Net result is I now enjoy SDSL rather than ADSL to the same speeds up as down. Speed varies a little, at worst does not frop below 2 meg, but most of the time is 5 - 6 meg. Gaming pings are nearly half what they were and none of the dreaded periodic latency

If there is interest from the village a P2P link will be installed to the base station and double the speeds. The link works in all weathers, to my surprise, even snow.

VFast have been very helpful in setting up and provide webspace for my domains. A small but very good operation, not cheap but out in the country you only get what you can pay for.
