NOTE; Previous reviews are out of date - you CAN now use your own Router and connect directly to the FTU. I've been with Truespeed for 2 1/2 years and had zero downtime. I've now taken the 900/900 and connected directly so have full admin control.

The core service Truespeed provides is really excellent. I get less than 1ms latency with very low jitter and no noticeable network contention. The service quality is excellent. I've also found support to be very good, local and responsive. Truespeed also provide FREE services to our village School, Library, Church Hall and our Village Hall and Sports Club.

They have also take a lot of the load off Virgin who were struggling and BT who still have Aluminium cables in our village.

Since the ability to connect up directly I really can't fault them. So much freedom!!

I read their blurb and signed on to the waiting list for my area. Whilst waiting I asked them some technical questions and the answers made me really, really glad I could get out of my commitment.
* They 'manage' your wifi for you, so have access to everything. This on it's own was a deal breaker.
* Their router has to be screwed to the wall, half way up, so is probably going to be ugly. This was also a dealbreaker as I have not only eyes and a rudimentary sense of aesthetics, but also a wife with better versions of both
* No, you can't use your own equipment, or put their router in modem mode, or do anything yourself. Also a dealbreaker if there weren't already two others.

They're local, and I really wanted to go with them if I could, even if it meant paying a little more... but their target market appears to be the complete utter numpties who want to be treated as such... and aren't aware of Sky.

Plus points for them passing my technical questions to an engineer, who answered them honestly (without opinion), but they really need to pull their heads out of their... fundaments if they want to succeed.

There is a huge problem with the way this company operates. Normal users have to use the supplied router, which is completely locked down, meaning you cannot change the password on the wifi yourself. In order to do this, you have to email a new password to tech support in plain text and they change the password remotely. This means that it is impossible for you to have a wifi password that someone else does not know - the engineer who installs the router knows your initial wifi password, and the tech support person knows your new password if you want to change it. Furthermore, since the original password was sent to me in a pdf in plain text, I suspect these passwords are stored in a database of some sort. Any kind of leak could have severe consequences for their customers, and the cherry on the top is that you can't even check to see if unknown or suspicious devices are connected to the network because the router is locked down! This is not secure. Truespeed is operating on the assumption that their employees will not divulge their customers' wifi passwords. If you are with Truespeed, it's best to regard your network as unsecured, and you should act at once to put your devices behind your own firewall that you control, and on your own wifi that you control. Truespeed tech support will help you do this but you need to purchase your own router.

I have been with Truespeed for a few months. Previously with Vfe 4G and before that Voneus.

Overall I am satisfied with the service. Reliablly get 200Mbps down and ~350Mbps up. Reliablilty has been good. Had one outage for about 2 hours.

Support have been responsive and knowledgeable when I ahve contacted them.

There are some downside though. On the basic package and the home worker package you have to use supplied router. The router is (or would be) good as it's a decent Frtzbox but it is totally locked down.

Fortunately it is possible to use your own router behind it by putting your router in DMZ and essentially having all ports forwarded to your own router. This has worked well for me.

You can only get a static IP with the business package and that is expensive so that is a bummer. Again I ahve worked around this by using DDNS updated from my PFSense router to domains hosted by NAMECHEAP.

I don't use the Truespeed VOIP service and their call costs are expensive and not vert transparent. I use alternative VOIP provider over Truespeed and that works fine. Also have no issues using Vodafone SureSignal, PLEX server etc etc. I host a couple of websites as well and that works fine.

Nothing to complain about other than the fact that getting a static IP is very very expensive and the locked down router.

Would not recommend this supplier -- billing and customer service are appalling
