Nildram

Summary: Nildram Crap now..
July 3rd, 2010 (Last Edited: July 3rd, 2010)
I've been with Nildram for 4 years now BUT in the last week it's been UTTER CRAP. I connect at 8 GB (~400yards from exchange) but in the week get about 0.3-1.5 on various speed checks sites at different times and different routers. Numerous phone calls on the 0871 line just say it's your equipment !! RUBBISH - SNR ~9-11.5 db Loop attenuation 15db no noise or crackles.

Time for a change - Xilo OR Adsl24 (another Opal group company?)

Any ideas ??

Summary: What went wrong with Nildram?
October 11th, 2009 (Last Edited: October 11th, 2009)
I've been with Nildram for three and a half years. For most of this time I got good broadband speed and had no need to call them as I had no connection problems.

Recently though the service has just been a disaster with my broadband slowing down to speeds I haven't experienced since I had dialup.

Like the previous reviewer, I held for over 15 minutes to get through to them (at a charge of 10p/minute).

When I requested my MAC code, the salesman tried to sell me another product!

I didn't receive my MAC code, so had to call back, again holding for over 15 minutes. At this point I got the name of the head of customer services and e-mailed them with the request for the MAC code.

As with the previous reviewer Nildram have been sending me Usage Notifications on a daily basis (even when I was away on holiday!) that nearly double the cost of my broadband package.

In a word: AVOID

Summary: I want a MAC !
September 15th, 2009 (Last Edited: September 15th, 2009)
Surprised to receive notification after notification that my usage was coming close to my quota and past it last month, I disconnected my router for about 36 Hrs only to find that my usage had still increased during that time ! Having contacted support, I was told that, yes, they knew that there was an issue with some customers and that the billing would reflect that but sure enough, I got billed for the full amount. Deciding to cut my losses, I finally decided to get a MAC this morning... 'If your thinking of leaving, press 4' that was 51 mn. ago, still holding, no answer ! I fear my cordless batteries are going to run out before I get a reply ! Ah, so that's how they keep their customers, they simply don't answer the phones...

Summary: Going down hill..
May 1st, 2008 (Last Edited: February 18th, 2009)
I’ve been a customer of Nildram’s for a few years now because I liked their balance of price and performance, although with the exception of the voice calls offer they’ve always been a bit weak on the added services side.

Still, since Tiscali took over and began migrating customers on to their network it has gotten worse, with the DNS servers seeming to be particularly poor (thank god for OpenDNS.org).

Customer support quality has also taken a nose dive and the Members Control Panel/Tools page hasn’t reported my overall usage and quotas correctly since the start of this year. I’ll be glad to leave in 2009.

Summary: nildram alternative?
January 2nd, 2009 (Last Edited: January 2nd, 2009)
I have been with nildram for several years because I wanted a good ISP for gaming. All was greta until April 2008 when I lost service for two weeks and when it returned it was slower than dial up. I made hundreds of calls and complaints and had over a dozen visits from BT engineers. It seems to have been finaly resolved on new years eve when BT sent an underground engineer out who tested the cable with a pairs test and then moved me to another e-side cable. However, i still get varing sink speeds and data transfer speeds as low as .5 meg. can anybody recomend another ISP for gaming purposes.
