I have been with UK online for nearly 12mths,without many problems,and the last problem i did have was B.T's responsibility as was down to excessive line noise,speed i have always had 85% of the advertised downstream and 90% upload speed the connection is stable 99% of the time,also im on fast path so low ping times for online games,they don't throttle p2p the support is free,but some of the advisers are difficult to understand properly as some are of Asian origin,they also seem to have a similar problem understanding the customer too,but apart from that a good isp,
Update:I'm really sorry to see ukonline close, undoubtedly one of the best isp's you could have,if you where connected to their (LLU)Easynet network, as the Bt Wholesale product that they and sky offered "Connect" was dire, and no comparison to the llu products after i regraded to the premier, my sync was 19.5mbit down and 1.2 upstream,Rip ukonline

Been with UK online for 2 years not knowing that sky own them and that i could have bought the same product alot cheaper with better tech support at sky.

Thought I'd just post a message saying they are not taking any new customers despite advertising on their website. They've been taken over by Sky. The gentlemen was pleasant so I've just rated that.

Summary: Awesome ISP!!

I moved to a studio flat in central London and to my surprise, there were no cable services in my area. I proceeded to get a BT phone line and read many, many reviews of ISPs for ADSL over the Internet. I had read many good reviews and recommendations from people to go with UK Online, amongst others like Zen.

On inspection of services, UK Online provided the perfect combination of price and promise of service. They promised a much lower contention ratio as well as much faster upload speeds than any other ISP I found and offered 2Mbps, 8Mbps and 16Mbps ADSL packages, all with unlimited downloads.

I've had my UK Online service active for just over a week now and I must say it is absolutely remarkable. I kept reading around the Internet how in the UK, all ISPs seem to provide an ADSL service that even though you pay for 8Mbps say, you end up receiving between 1Mbps and 2Mbps in peak time and sometimes not even any connectivity in peak time. This is entirely not the case with UK Online!!

I signed up for the 8Mbps (and 768kbps upload) ADSL package (for £20 a month) and everytime I perform a speed test I get, as my lowest download speed, 6.5Mbps and as my lowest upload speed, 0.65Mbps. Since activation, there have been zero connectivity problems and download speeds of an average of 830KB/s (meanwhile I can also browse the Internet very fast due to the great upload speed!!). This service is certainly a dream. It even competes with Virgin Media's 20Mbps cable service that I had for a year last year in Nottingham - I actually get faster download speeds now than I did then!

The technical support team is very efficient and helpful. A good plus of UK Online is that their phone number is a freephone 0800 number so there's no cost in calling!

I must truly recommend UK Online as an ADSL ISP. To be fair, as I mentioned earlier, the service here seems to be faster than Virgin Media's 20Mbps cable service - something I truly cannot complain about!!

Summary: Constant Problems

We've had never ending problems since we signed up to their 8MB Max Product. When the internet works its great but when there's a fault it usually takes 2 weeks to fix it. Their tech support is very poor and they will repeatedly deny that anything is wrong and then give you ETAs that aren't met. You can get this level of poor service for a lot cheaper than UK Online.
