ADSL24

Summary: Very Pleased All Round

I was very surprised to read a previous post about a "sour experience" with ADSL24. I couldn't let that go without comment as my own experience as a new customer has been perfect.

Last month I transferred from Metronet (i.e. Plusnet) broadband and BT telephone to ADSL24's 'Complete 50' phone and broadband LLU package, and I have been delighted with every aspect. The changeover was simple and their responses to my communications, both before and after signing up, have been fast and helpful.

For example, at close to midnight on Saturday 4th February I asked ADSL24 to advise if it was possible to increase my download speed, and I added "Not Urgent" in the Subject line. I received a response at 5.48 a.m. on Monday 6th February saying "Our suppliers have made a change to the service overnight, might you please advise as to whether you're finding this an improvement?" ... It was indeed an improvement, but they felt that the speed could be further improved and are working to that end. Nothing seems too much trouble for them!

I've had quite a sour experience with ADSL24

1. I signed-up for broadband and was left with only an activated phone line 2 weeks later
2. I was told my set-up fee would be left as credit on my account, but they forgot
3. They charged me next month for the broadband they failed to provide
4. They have no support except for Mon-Fri 9-5, because nothing goes wrong out-of-hours right
5. You can't change you password for your online account on their website, they set mine to my name

I've had to spend a lot of time on the phone to them
I really wish I'd never signed-up with them now

I've been with ADSL24 for several years now. I moved six months ago and considered changing to another ISP following poor recent reviews on this site for ADSL24. However I stuck with ADSL24 and they've been great.
I had a couple of issues during setup and the help desk were quick to answer, and the chap I spoke to obviously knew his stuff and wasn't just a call centre box-ticker.
Speed has been good, never see any throttling. Would (and do) recommend. Worth paying a bit more for these guys.

Ok, bit of a daft title, but I live in an area, pretty much a NotSpot, where the very best ADSL2 speed you can get is the fixed-speed of 512kbps. Not everyone can get a connection at all.
If you can get a connection, the "Up to 8Mbps" offerings barely reach 380kbps because at +5km from the exchange the line noise is awful.
Along comes ADSL24 who install ADSL2+ as an LLU offering. I now get at least 1.2Mbps which is amazing seeing as a few years ago we were on SatDSL with ISDN backhaul.
The reliability of the line over the last couple of months have been great. No loss of connection or drop of speed. Signing up was easy via the ADSL24 web page. No complaints.

Summary: End of the line

Up until the Summer of 2009, downstream speeds and connection were both fairly good. Since then, both have deteriorated. The problems that existed with Entanet have been magnified with their switch to Murphx. Downstream connection has now dropped to a consistently pitiful 0.4 Mbps and there are many disconnections every day.
