TitanADSL

Summary: It started with a kiss......

...well not quite but things started really well with Titan when I joined about a year ago.
I'd switched from Nildram, who I had been with for about 5 years, after they got taken over by Tiscali....who then promptly place both hands on Nildrams internet pipe and started to squeeze...HARD!!!
At that point it became difficult to justify the increased cost for the poor service I was receiving so I started looking round and after reading quite a few good reviews (majoritly on this site) decided to give Titan a go.
The sales team were polite and effective so was the techincal team (although I only had to called them once and that wasn't their fault) and I was very happy with the service for 11 and half months....and then came the letter that informed me about the switch to Vispa.
Like a lot of people on here who are/were with Titan I had no problems with Entanet.
I read the reviews on vispa and they seemed quite promising so my initial fear subsided a little.
Then i got switched over. At that point it all went wrong. I did some speedtests and they were not good and p2p was terrible even late night/early morning, but I decided to persevere with it to give things a chance to settle and improve....unfortunately they didn't and just over a week ago after a dreadful online gaming session I made the decision to switch to BE, and so far I'm happy I did (I'll do a review of BE at a later date).
It was such a shame that it ended up like this with Titan as they have good customer service, knowledgeable technical support....just now, unfortuantely, their ADSL product (this does not refer to their ADSL2+ LLU product as that is not available in my area so I haven't been able to use it) is not worth what you pay.

Summary: Abysmal

I'm also one of the many who Titan moved from Enta to Vispa. Like others, I had no problems or issues when on Enta.

Since being migrated to Vispa I've endured:

Overbilling
Throttled P2P (I'm far from being a heavy user!)
Stalling on sites like Youtube
Slower connection than when on Enta
Time outs - evening surfing can be a joke - but not a funny one :(
Game pings have doubled or even trebled. I own a number of game servers - all Hosted by Level3 in London. So I know exactly where the problem lays ... "good" old Vispa.

I've rated support as 2 - only because they replied to my email request for my MAC in less than 10 minutes. The rest are all 1's as it's a shoddy, over-priced, second rate service.

Avoid both Titan and Vispa, or you will regret it !

Roll on Monday 15th, when I'll be shot of the pair of them !!

Summary: Getting better

Well as of yesterday speeds and torrents have improved alot for me, looks like Titan's move is settling down now. We have another account with Titan on their LLU service and that's rocks stable all the time.

Summary: Didn't Have To Happen
March 8th, 2010 (Last Edited: March 8th, 2010)
I'm another TitanADSL customer who was swapped over from Entanet, despite having absolutely no problems with them at all. My speeds with Vispa during the day have been reasonably competent, but certainly worse than they were and far, far more variable. The speeds after midnight are always pitiful, however.

P2P is certainly being throttled, despite claims that this would never happen. The speeds are shockingly low at all times and rarely get above 5kb/s during off-peak. Youtube has also been badly affected and can never, ever be watched in real-time even on the lowest quality setting.

If I have the sheer audacity to enter an online game, it starts out OK, but then after a few minutes the ping shoots up to 150+ and the constant packet losses ensures I lose connection/get kicked very quickly.

My major problem, however, has been the shifting of off-peak times from 10pm to midnight. This is has rendered off-peak pretty much worthless. I'm not a heavy P2P user and kept the vast majority of it off-peak with Entanet, but that will be impossible now.

So, even if all of these problems were sorted out, the useless off-peak times ensure this unwanted shift to "a more efficient service and product" will cost Titan my custom. If this were completely free I still wouldn't use it, but on top of it all, Vispa saw fit to double bill me for this abysmal service.

Summary: too bad!
March 5th, 2010 (Last Edited: March 5th, 2010)
I've been a very happy customer of Titan ADSL for a year or 2 now, however their change from Entanet to Vispa has spoiled the broadband experience for me I'm afraid. Initially youtube, iplayer etc and p2p seemed throttled, throughout the day/night with the very occasional and short boost in speeds.
A week or so later and iplayer seems ok and std youtube vids watchable, although not the 480p like I used to.

p2p during the past 24hrs is still struggling to sit at anything above 15k/sec (with the occasional-short spurt to 100)

I've requested my migration code today from Titan, which is a real shame as their service/speeds use to be top draw, I hope for the many others that titan can get back to their high standards..

Now looking to change to Plusnet.
