FireFly

Summary: Reliable but slow
May 8th, 2007 (Last Edited: April 28th, 2008)
For the information of those who may want to use Firefly I can inform you that it is a reliable dialup service. It has only failed to connect twice and these were at peak times.

The typical connection speed is 28.2 kbps but by disconnecting and redialing between 3 and 6 times I can usually get this up to between 31.2 and 34.2 kbps. I would love to find a dialup ISP which could regularly connect at 38kbps and above. They do bill on time and there are no nasty surprises with them taking payments early or eratically.

Summary: not great i'm afraid
April 23rd, 2005 (Last Edited: April 28th, 2008)
have been with firefly for a year having read about them here. sad to say their service and connection has been unreliable. i frequently have problem getting my mail and the connection speed rarely rises above 50.6

i emailed them recently with my complaints and received a very curt respsonse, technical support it wasn't! Not good enough i'm afraid, and when i have some available time, i'll be looking else where. expensive for what it is.

Summary: Firefly

I have been with them now for 12 months and have been very pleased. Their support is excellent and the payment in blocks of time which you can roll over month to month is a great idea

Summary: Crap usenet news service
February 18th, 2006 (Last Edited: April 28th, 2008)
I signed up with Firefly dial-up (0.4p per minute) 4 months ago after seeing them highly rated here.

The speed is a little less than Wanadoo, which is fine for the price.

The usenet newsgroup service is the worst I\'ve ever come across. The download is unreliable resulting in ~40% of posts not being downloaded, you have to manually download the missing posts. I\'ve been using usenet for 10 years with a variety of providers without problems, so it isn\'t me.

I\'m signing up to Individual news it\'s the best I\'ve come across - it does a superb job of blackholing spam news.individual.net Flat rate charge of 10 Euros per year (?6.70)

Summary: Firefly begone
August 24th, 2007 (Last Edited: April 28th, 2008)
On the 17th August I unwittingly (& apparently unforgivably to Firefly)failed to complete to dial-up cancellation process, and for this error was disconnected.

My telephone call to them seeking reconnection was received by one who soon became irascible, intolerant and ill-mannered. He told me Firefly would respond by returning my call. Not so!

Following on from this \"conversation\",of sorts,I made a number of further attempts to be reconnected but all met with failure,my tele.calls being blocked,& my few emails remaining unanswered.

I deem Firefly\'s attitude inflexible and arrogant ; and I have here, reader, expressed myself with politeness.
